Mr. Bernard George Stiefvater, son of Mrs. Greg Rogillio, Greenwood (Clark Co.,
Wis.), and the late George Stiefvater, claimed as his bride Miss Cynthia Steward
Maxy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Crossman Maxy, North Haven, Conn., during a
12 o'clock noon ceremony Saturday, December 28, 1963, at St. Rita's Catholic
Church at Hamden, Conn.
The Rt. Rev. Msgr. William J. Daly officiated at the nuptial ceremony, for which
the church was decorated with red poinsettias and evergreens.
Candlelight satin was utilized to fashion the bridal gown, which had a molden
bodice of Alencon lace. Her fingertip veil of candlelight illusion fell from a
coif fashioned of satin. The bride carried a cascade boqueut consisting of
stephanotis and miniature ivy.
Mrs. Lawrence Bain of Woodridge, Conn., was matron of honor, and Miss Susan Cady
of Avon, Conn., and Mrs. Donald Fieme, Columbus, Wisconsin, were bridesmaids.
They donned floor length lime peel green velvet gowns and carried cascades of
white poinsettias and holly.
Thomas Stiefvater, Milwaukee, was the best man, and the groomsmen were Edward
Maxcy, North Haven, Conn.; Lawrence Bain, Woodridge, Mass.; and Arthur Wojta,
Milwaukee.
The wedding reception was held at the Quinnpack Club.
The new Mrs. Stiefvater, a 1962 graduate of Columbia University, also attended
Foxhollow School, Lenox, Mass., and Centeanry College for women at Hackettstown,
N.J. She is on the staff of Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
Her husband, who was graduated from St. Mary's School, Greenwood High School,
and in 1958 received his degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where
he was affiliated with Theta Chi Fraternity. He is employed at Crown Zellerback
in Dallas.
Mr. Stiefvater is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. L.A. Kitzhaber, and the late Mr.
and Mrs. Charles, Stiefvater.
