Mr. Bergemann is the office manager at the Clark Electric Cooperative. He
supervises all personal and business procedures. He was first employed at the
cooperative in January of 1938, when he was assigned to set up the complete
records when the cooperative first began.
The first job that Harland can remember is when he worked at the Granton Bank
during the depression. He was a Special Deputy of Banks in Wisconsin when banks
were consolidating. He then began working for the Highway Department, where he
first met the directors of the Clark Electric Cooperative and applied for the
job he now holds.
Harland is very active in our community. He was City Clerk for three terms and
Alderman for one term.
The Bergemans came to Greenwood in March of 1938. Mrs. Bergemann is the former
Evelyn Raab of Loyal.
Harland and his wife operated the town root beer stand for 13 years. Mr.
Bergemann recalls this occupation with great pleasure because he like children.
He has five of his own, 3 girls and 2 boys, Mary, Joan, Richard, Sally, and
James.
Besides serving our community in various offices, Harland also belongs to such
organizations as the Knights of Columbus, Chamber of Commerce, and the State
Accountants Association.
The Bergemann's home is located on West Schofield and was built in 1960. Harland
says that he thinks Greenwood is an ideal community for raising a family.
His future plans are to retire and remain in the area.
