Schlinsog, Mr. and Mrs. Harry (Golden - 24 June 1974)
More than 130 friends and relatives honored Mr. and Mrs. Harry Schlinsog on
their golden wedding anniversary at an open house last Sunday afternoon at the
Star Lodge Motel in Loyal.
At noon there had been a family dinner with their children and families and a
few close friends. Table decorations of flowers and candles were in the colors
of the golden anniversary. Mrs. Irene Jacobi, Granton, decorated the wedding
cake.
Mrs. Schlinsog, the former Nelda Drescher, taught rural schools for five years
before her marriage at Marshfield on June 24, 1924. She was a 1919 graduate of
the old teacher’s training department of Neillsville High school. Her parents
were Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Drescher of the Town of Lynn. She has substituted in
both public and parochial schools since then.
Mr. Schlinsog’s parents were Mr. and Mrs. Herman F. Schlinsog of the Town of
Grant. He received his education in the Granton Schools.
After their marriage the couple lived on his parents’ farm for five years, after
which he worked in the Lynn Dairy, and later in the Neillsville Milk Products
Cooperative, for eight years before they purchased the present factory, the
Schlinsog Dairy at Pelsdorf, which their son, Ted is operating.
During his years as a buttermaker, Mr Schlinsog won many prizes in competition.
Now he helps in the diary, where cheese is made. Mrs. Schlinsog does the book
work for the factory.
During the winter season, Mrs. Schlinsog bowls and her husband also bowled until
three years ago. They both enjoy fishing.
She is an active member of Pelsdorf Homemakers. They are members of Trinity
Lutheran Church at Loyal.
Their children are: Ted Schlinsog, Loyal; Bill Schlinsog of Middleton; and Dick
Schlinsog, Marshfield. There are four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Special guests at the celebration were their attendants of 50 years ago, Mr. and
Mrs. Ed Schlinsog of Chili. Another was Harris Dux and his wife of Hudson. Mr.
Dux lived with the Schlinsogs for a number of years and worked in the factory.
