LOCAL NEWS ITEMS

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Keiner and daughter. Marseilles, spent Thursday I evening at Neillsville.

Mr. and Mrs. A H. Noetzel. son, Grover, and daughter. Ambrosia, spent I Sunday at La Crosse.

Mr. and Mrs. C. Perkins arid Miss Velma Hindal spent Sunday at Stafford and La Crosse.

Mrs. T. Fahey and Mrs. C. Moberg spent Sunday at the Jack Fahey home at Stanley.

Mrs. A. C. Wagner of Neillsville visited at the J. O’Connell home Sunday afternoon.

Quite a number of people from this city are attending the shows at Loyal this week.

Delmain Flatz west to New Auburn Tuesday where he will attend the Y.M.C.A. camp for two weeks.

Roy Albright has rented the barber shop in the Peterson building and the fixtures from Gilbert Decker.

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. C. Steiger and Mrs. T.F. Schiller and daughter, Frances, were Marshfield callers Saturday.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Gale Hiles at the Sacred Heart Hospital, frau Claire, Tuesday, August 2nd, a baby boy. Congratulations.

Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Flatz left Tuesday for the northern part of the state where they will spend their vacation.

Mrs. Elsie Romang of Athens spent Friday evening at the home of her grandson and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Keiner.

Miss Ambrosia Noetzel, who has been attending summer school at Ames. Iowa, returned here last Wednesday.

Mrs. AC. Barr and daughter, Mrs. Ray Shaw, autoed to Eau Claire last Wednesday. Miss Jessie Barr returned with them and spent until Sunday at her home here.

Word as received here Monday that Mrs. Art Zahren. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rogue, underwent an Operation at the hospital in Chicago that day.

Mrs. Christ Keiner entertained a number of Ladies at her home Friday afternoon in honor of her mother, Mrs. Elsie Romang of Athens, who is visiting here. All report a very enjoyable time.

Matt Gregorich of Iowa arrived here to attend the wedding of his brother Joe, to Miss Julia Tomac, which took place at Willard yesterday.

Mmes. George Haeuser, A. C. Barr, Joseph Merkel, Earl Sloniker, Ed. Buker, Louis Arbs and Herman Olson attended the R. N. A. (Royal Neighbors Association) meeting at Loyal (Clark Co., WI) Tuesday evening.

A number of friends helped Wm. C. Steiger celebrate his birthday anniversary Wednesday evening. Bridge was played after which Mrs. Steiger served a delicious lunch.

Mrs. Emma Neuenfeldt, who spent the past two seeks here at the home of her son, Wm. And family, retuned to her home in Marshfield last Saturday.

Sylvester Hinker and sister, Edna, spent Sunday at Sparta.

Miss Onetta Ottow of Beloit is visiting the Henry Mathison home.

Mr. and Mrs. Otto Hiles were at Eau Claire Wednesday to see their new grandson.

Miss Bessie Brinkman, R. N., of Chicago, is visiting at the Christ Keiner home.

Miss Mildred Johnson of Minneapolis is spending the week here with Miss Ann Kirkwood.

Fred Oelig of Humbird and two nieces of Stevens Point were visitors here Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Fradette went to Shell Lake Tuesday for a visit with relatives and friends.

Miss Nellie Hartson spent the forepart of the week with relatives at Neillsville.

Miss Lola Amidon, Miss Avera Dahlby and Mrs. P.W. Gullord visited friends at Marshfield Friday.

The state has just licensed 25 more embalmers Business must be dead.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Vandehey entertained the members of the 500 club at their home Sunday evening.

Morris Jackson arrived here from Blanchardsville last week for a visit at the Oscar Rear home.

Dr. and Mrs. A.J. Currie and daughter, Betty, and Dorothy Schwarze spent the weekend at Pike Lake.

Miss Eleanor Putzel of Minneapolis arrived home Wednesday for a few weeks visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Putzel.

Miss Ann Kirkwood entertained ten ladies at a 7:00 o’clock dinner at the Lyon restaurant Tuesday evening in honor of Miss Mildred Johnson of Minneapolis followed by bridge at the Howard Hotel.

Rev. and Mrs. E.G. Pfeiffer left Tuesday for Oshkosh where on Wednesday Mrs. Pfeiffer left with relatives for St. Mary’s, Iowa, for three weeks visit. Rev. Pfeiffer went to Barneveld where he will preach the Mission Festival sermon on Sunday.

Mrs. Carl Jensen and son returned to Tomah Thursday after a few days visit at the Tobert Jackson home. Miss Claudine Jackson accompanied them to Tomah for a visit.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Aaberg and daughter of Mankato, Minn., are visiting at the home of his parents, Rev. and Mrs. M. K. Aaberg. Miss Myrtle Aaberg returned here with them.

Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Rear and son Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Erickson and Mr. and Mrs. John Anderson spent Thursday evening at the Geo. E. Rude home at Neillsville.

Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Westcott were at Millston Sunday for a visit at the A. C. Ketchum home. Mr. Ketchum, who spent several weeks here returned to Greenwood with them.

Heard reports of “runs” on several Milwaukee banks. The man that bought $5,000 of Whosit and Whatsit Hairpin Co., from a salesman he never saw before three years ago gets scared
now that a million dollar bank may not be able to pay his $100 checking account.

Miss Barbara Pink returned to her home at Bloomington after spending three weeks here with the Ed Hinker family.

Miss Irene Varney went to Neillsville Friday where on Monday she took over the position of librarian at the Neillsville library.

Mr. and Mrs. Norman Eckley and children of Fort Atkinson spent Saturday and Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur H. Muenchow.

Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Arends and family and Mr. and Mrs. Hanson of Colby spent Sunday at the Jobn Arends home.

A very pretty wedding took place at the Trondhjem Lutheran Church, Wednesday, July 27, at 3:00 P.M., when Miss Leona Olson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Olson, became the
bride of Arthur Turnqiust, son of Mrs. Maria Hendrickson.

The bridal party entered the church to the strains of the Wedding March played by Mrs. Adolph Meyer, aunt of the bride. The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. M.K. Aaberg.

The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Evelyn Olson, as maid of honor, and Miss Edna Hembre, cousin of the groom, as bridesmaid. The groom was attended by his brother Carl Turnquist,
and Orlando Meyer, a cousin of the bride.

The bride was attired in white satin with long tulle veil and carried a bouquet of roses. The maid of honor wore green crepe and the bridesmaid, orchid taffeta. The groom and his attendants wore blue suits.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents for 70 relatives and friends.

The bride and groom are both well known here and graduated from the local high school.

Mr. and Mrs. Turnquist will make their home on the groom’s farm four miles east of Greenwood.

Miss Julia Tomac, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pete Tomac of the town of Warner, and Joe Gregorich of Willard, were united in marriage at the Holy Family Church, .Willard, Wednesday, August 3, at 10:00A.M., Rev. J. Novak officiating.

Miss Mary Tomac, cousin of the bride, acted as bridesmaid and Frank Jeras wan best man.

The bride was attired in white satin with veil and carried a mixed bouquet of flowers while the bridesmaid wore a pink satin dress and also carried a
mixed bouquet.

After the ceremony, the relatives and close friends attended a wedding breakfast nerved at the home of the parents.

The church was beautifully decorated in pink and white. In the evening, a dinner was served in the Willard hall basement and dancing took place upstairs.

The young couple will make their home with the bride’s parents, two miles north of Greenwood.

Their many friends join the Gleaner in extending best wishes.
