Dopp, Arvid Dale (7 April 1934 - 3 July 2016)
Arvid Dopp, 82, of Neillsville died Sunday, July 3, 2016, in the emergency room
of Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville.
Arvid Dale Dopp was born April 7, 1934, in Rhinelander, the son of Karl and
Esther (Lowe) Dopp. He graduated from the university of Wisconsin-Platteville
with a Bachelor of Science degree and from the university of Wisconsin-Madison
with a Master of Science degree.
In 1955, Arvid was united in marriage to Carol White. They moved to Neillsville
in the 1960s. Carol taught elementary education for 23 years, and for more than
30 years, Arvid was employed by the University of Wisconsin Extension Service.
They were members of the United Methodist Church in Neillsville and Arvid’s
hobbies included skiing, hunting and playing many rounds of golf.
He is survived by his son, Mark Dopp; a daughter-in-law, Sherry Edwards Dopp of
McLean, VA; and a granddaughter, Kerrigan Dopp of Chicago, IL, and his beloved
cat, Ursa.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ca3rol, in 2005; a son, Scott, in 1996;
and his parents.
A memorial service for Arvid was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, at the Gesche
Funeral Home in Neillsville, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Pastor Douglas Bjerke officiated. Interment will be at a later date in the
Neillsville City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society,
903 S. 17th Ave., Suite B, Wausau, WI 54401-5740.
