Peterson, Charles “Chuck” (10 MAY 1948 - 9 JUL 2016)
Charles “Chuck” Peterson, 68, Township of Stockbridge, Wi., died peacefully on
Saturday, July 9, 2016, at his home in Stockbridge, Wi.
He was born on May 10, 1948, in Ogema, the son of Harold and Luella (Anderson)
Peterson.
He spent his early life and schooling in the Ogema area. He attended the Ring
School, Township of Hill, the Brantwood School and then finished his education
by graduating from the Ondassagon High School.
Following his graduation he served his country in the U.S. Air Force where he
was stationed in Florida. In 1976 he was married to Brenda Byars and they
resided in Florida until 1980 when they moved back to Ogema. His wife Brenda
preceded him in death in March of 1994.
He loved the woods and logged for several years along with woodworking and
raising livestock. He dearly loved collecting antique farm equipment and horses.
For the past ten years he enjoyed being able to travel back and forth from
Wisconsin to Alabama/Mississippi to visit his family and grandchildren and never
met a stranger along the way.
He is survived by his children: Cherri (Scott) Wolf, Crestview, Fla., Paul
Peterson, Emelle, Ala., Charles (Wanda) Peterson, Meridian, Miss., and Kristen
(Bill) Johnston, Emelle, Ala., by 6 grandchildren, by his longtime companion
Judy Van Sluys, Stockbridge, and by her children: Lindsay (Greg) Kellerman,
Hartford, Wi., and Casey (Kellen) Van Sluys, Malone, Wi., by 2 brothers: Harold
“Joe” (Pat) Peterson, Wisconsin Rapids, Wi., and Gerald (Diane)Peterson,
Marshfield, Wi., by 3 sisters: Alice (Richard) Gucinski, Solon Springs, Wi.,
Darlene (Don) Carney, Rice Lake, Wi., Joyce (Jim) Summers, Ogema, and by 1
brother-in-law George Beaumont, Ogema.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife Brenda, and by 1 sister
Myrna Beaumont.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at
the Ogema Lutheran Church, Ogema, with Pastor Linda Strader officiating.
Interment will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Township of Hill, with
Military Honors by the Sprit American Legion Post #452. Friends may call on
Wednesday at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
The Heindl Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
