Hannah, Ernest (21 DEC 1896 – 1 OCT 1964)
Funeral services were held at the Gorgan Funeral Home in Mineral Point, Wis., on
Saturday, October 3, for Ernest Hannah. Mr. Hannah passed away at the General
Hospital at Dodgeville on Thursday, October 1, 1964. He had been in failing
health for several months.
The deceased was born on a farm near Christie (Clark Co., Wis.) on December 21,
1896, the son of Will and Alma (Neverman) Hannah. As a boy, he often visited in
Greenwood with his aunt, Mrs. Edna Hunt.
He attended grade school at Christie and graduated with the class of 1914 from
the Neillsville High School.
On November 29, 1917, he married Irene Hawley at Greenwood. The following year
he enlisted in the Army and served in France in World War I. Later he returned
to Clark County and farmed in the Town of York. In 1936, the family moved to
Mineral Point, where he has since resided.
Mr. Hannah is survived by his wife, Irene, his mother, the former Alma Neverman,
a brother, Wilbur, and four sons, Gordon of Rockford, Ill.; Robert and John of
Mineral Point, and Verl of San Jose, Calif.; a daughter, Dorothy, Mrs. Leroy
Wells of Leaf River, Ill., and twenty grandchildren.
