A new business is welcomed to Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) – On the corner of S. Main Street and W. Schofield our "hometown" has a new kind of business in which to trade. I'm referring to Joan's Gift Shop, operated by Joan Hutman and her able assistant, Fran Petkovsek. In visiting the new store over the weekend I discovered a very warm and friendly atmosphere. I'm sure with the holiday season upon us, now you'll find a few of your home and office decorating needs to be gotten right here in our "hometown." Both Joan and Fran have discovered many decorative ideas which will bring holiday cheer to your family and associates. Whether it be Christmas decorations, various ornamental designs for you walls , or yarn and knitting accessories, you'll find many items of interest at Joan's Gift Shop. In the future, classes will be conducted to help occupy the time of the housewife during her leisure hours, such as classes on knitting, painting, etc. An Joan informed me that these classes will be open to both adults and teenagers, in hopes to bring out the hidden talents that each of us possess within us. It's the local people of this community that really wanted this type of a business. From the first days of its opening she has had people from Marshfield, Spencer, Abbotsford, Loyal, Owen and Thorp, to name but just a few communities. Joan's Gift Shop is very thankful to the friendly reception she received this past week, and I might also add, well pleased too. She also expressed a hearty thank you for the fine flowers she received from the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce. For those who missed out on the Grand Opening, don't feel too bad, because she's open each day from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and on Friday evening until 10:00. That's Joan's Gift Shop on Main Street, across from Chubb's Service Station.
