John A. Meer, Colby, and Jeff C. Cook of Unity were awarded Bachelor of Science
in Electrical Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degrees,
respectively, by the University of Wisconsin at Madison as the first semester of
the university's 1968-69 school year close recently.
A total of more than 1,900 students received their bachelor's and higher degrees
at the end of the fall-winter semester, bringing to almost 179,000, the total
number of degrees granted by Wisconsin's university at Madison during its 120
year history since its first class of 20 students met on February 5, 1849. The
complete list of degree recipients for the past semester was just released by
the university registration and records office following final compilation of
all grades of all the students.
Of the total receiving degrees at this time, about 1,000 were granted their
first, or Bachelor's degrees, and over 900 received their higher degrees,
including 621 Master's degrees, 14 doctor of law degrees, and 305 doctor of
philosophy degrees.
