Shortville Center (13 Mar 1919)

Spring certainly is here for the writer saw Wm. Stevens sitting on the shady side of the house the other afternoon.

Three of our young men, Ora Galbreath, Elmer and Elden Bender started for the west last week to work during the summer.

Found on Amos Kegley’s front porch on the night of the oyster supper, one cake plate and a pair of ladies’ shoes. Amos says the owner may have same by proving property.

The Shortville Glee Club attended a party at Bert Swann’s at Pleasant Ridge on Wednesday evening, March 5. The evening was spent in dancing and card playing. Music was furnished by the Pleasant Ridge and Shortville orchestras. A bountiful supper was served at midnight. Mrs. Swann is certainly a first-class entertainer.

Mrs. T.M. Winters, who has been sick at Evansville, is improving and it is expected that she will be able to come home the latter part of the week. We will all be glad to see her home again.

A few of the Shortville people attended a wiener roast at Wm. Ottow’s Sunday evening. Eugene Hagie only ate thirty wieners. He says he don’t care much for them.
