Klopf, Capt. H.W. (Resignation from Wisconsin State Guards – 20 Mar 1919)
Captain H.W. Klopf, who has, since the organization of Company I, Wis. State
Guards, been its captain, has resigned the position and his resignation has been
accepted. He recommended that First Lieutenant J.J. Irvine be commissioned
captain, and this will probably be done, although no formal announcement to this
effect has been made.
Lieutenant Irvine returned home Monday from Madison, when he had been called
with the contemplated change.
Captain M.P. Curtus, of Camp Douglas, was here this week, checking up on the
affairs of the company. He left for Camp Douglas Monday.
Captain Klopf has been very active in military affairs and has devoted much of
his time to the work of the organization and development of the home company.
At the meeting Monday night 1st Lieut. J.J. Irvine was elected captain, 2nd
Lieut. A.L. Devos was elected 1st Lieutenant and Henry Frantz was elected 1st
Sergeant.
