Baker, Mazie S. (15 September 1926 - 14 July 2016)
Mazie S. Baker, 89, Stanley, died on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Sacred Heart
Hospital, Eau Claire under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice. She was born on
September 15, 1926 in Stanley. Mazie parents were Oscar and Viola Christianson.
Mazie graduated from Stanley High in 1945. She married Neil Baker on July 28,
1945.
Mazie was a lifelong resident of Stanley and lifelong member of Our Savior’s
Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker but also worked for Thorp Finance, the
Stanley Corporation and the Stanley IGA. She was proud of her community and
played in various card clubs over the years and was Stanley Red Hatter. Mazie
enjoyed shopping and gong antiquing.
She is survived by her children: Patty (Dale) Swanholm of Flower Mound TX, Beth
Nelson of Racine and Bruce (Diane) Baker of Oregon, WI; four grandchildren, Amy
Swanholm, Eric (Ariella) Swanholm, Brett (Angie) Baker and Tyler Nelson; two
great-grandchildren: Silas Baker and Drewek Nelson and one sister, Gloria (Bob)
Mohr of Rock Dam.
Mazie is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Neil (8-19-2002) and a
sister Sylvia Anderson.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. held on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Our
Savior’s Lutheran Church, Stanley with Pastor Kenneth Schmidt officiating.
Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to
services Tuesday at the church. Plombon Funeral Service-Stanley assisted the
family with arrangements.
(Note: Allan Hodnett states: Mazie had many relatives and friends at Wolter's
Corner, (at Owen) and spent many days of her life with the Hodnett's and
Wolter's there. She is part of my family. Her mom was a Wolter, and a sister of
my Grandma Esther Wolter Hodnett.)
