Melvin Nye reports picking strawberry blossoms as early as a week ago. This
spring is indeed an early one.
Caesar Barth is making preparations for the erection a a handsome new dwelling
on his farm in the Town of Reseburg (Clark Co., Wis.).
The streets in place are sadly in need of repairs. The laying of the water mains
last fall left many bad holes which should be plugged at once.
The framework of the creamery building is up and enclosed and the work is being
pushed as rapidly as possible. Mr. Albert, the proprietor, informs us that the
plant will be ready to begin making butter about June 1st.
The Towns of Thorp and Withee vote on the question of separation from the
village on Saturday, next. The voters of the village will express their
sentiment of the same matter. The vote should be unanimous in favor of
separation in each precinct.
The Wis. Central depot was struck by lightning, and catching fire, was entirely
destroyed on Thursday night of last week. The fire was the first discovered
about 12:30 a.m. and was then beyond control. The records, tickets, express and
freight and everything in the building was destroyed.
