Clarence Barkow, a junior at Abbotsford High School, has been selected as a
member of the 1969 United State of America Chorus. He will be flying to Tokyo,
Japan with the organization on June 26, and will be then transported to Hamajima,
where the Yamaha Foundation for Music Education Music Camp is located.
He has also be chosen by the Honor Committee of the Wisconsin Music Association
for the Wisconsin High School Honors Chorus.
Clarence is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Barkow Sr. of Abbotsford and is a
member of the Abbotsford High School choir and madrigal singers, who are
instructed by Richard Troyer.
The United States of America Chorus will be giving concerts throughout Japan. On
July 1, they will be giving a concert in Tokyo the night before the Lions
International Convention, and on July 2, they will participate in the Lions
convention parade. The organization will be returning to the United States July
21.
Clarence also recently received three first places in Class A in the district
festival held at Athens.
