Wisnewski, Raymond J. (1 OCT 1921 - 27 JUL 2016)

Raymond J. Wisnewski, 94, Wausau, formerly of Poniatowski, entered his eternal home on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau.

He was born October 1, 1921 on the family farm in Poniatowski, son of the late Michael and Stella (Stanke) Wisnewski. On April 30, 1977, he married the love of his life Lucille (Krueger) Raymond at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski. She preceded him in death on February 1, 2012.

Ray loved farming on the family farm until his retirement at the age of 72, at which time he and Lucille moved to Wausau. Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed listening to polka music, dancing, church picnics and being outdoors. He also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States.

Survivors include his step-children, Diane Wesenick and Clyde (Karen) Raymond of Wausau; and their children who thought of Ray as their grandpa, Jason (Dawn) Wesenick, Aniwa, Jared (Robin) Wesenick, Wausau, Charles "Chuck" (Jenna) Wesenick, Wausau, Stacy (Tyler) Groshek, Wausau, Sarah Wesenick, Wausau, Jenni (Tony) Hollander, Wausau, Staci (Brian) Thorkildsen, Oshkosh and Kristin Raymond, Ames, Iowa; 13 great grandchildren; two sisters, Sylvia Jarog, Poplar Grove, Ill. and Theresa Green, Eau Claire; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lester Haaker, Savage, Minn., Marion Wisnewski, Wausau, Darlene (DeLyle) Singstock, Abbotsford and Darell (Roseanne) Krueger, Fifield; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife, Lucille, he was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Alfred "Fritz" Wesenick; and seven siblings, Frank Wisnewski, Alex Wisnewski, Lucille Wisnewski, Eleanor Booker, Josephine Wadzinski, Lillian Wojciechowski and Margaret Haaker.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Noon on Monday, August 1, 2016 at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Primrose, the staff at Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services and the staff at Aspirus Hospice House for the outstanding care and support given to Ray and his family.
