Denny, Edith Martha (Raab) (24 APR 1920 - 27 JUL 2016)
Edith Martha Denny, 96, died in Saint Clare’s Hospital in Weston on Wednesday,
July 27.
She was born in Catawba, Wisconsin, on April 24, 1920, the daughter of Adam and
Elizabeth Raab.
She was married to Richard Denny in Valparaiso, Indiana, on February 19, 1940.
She was an active member of Saint John Lutheran Church of Phillips, served as a
4H Leader, a volunteer at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Phillips, a Scout Den
Mother, and was a member of the S.O.S. Save Our School organization. She worked
along side of Richard her whole working life, operating a dairy farm in Catawba,
as an auctioneer, and as an insurance agent.
She is survived by six children, Lyle (Pat), Eva “Susie” (Wayne) Wirsing, Jo
Ann, Judy (Jim) Pekol, Randy (Diane), and Jeff (Laurie); by 34 grandchildren, 70
great grandchildren, and 12 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, on November 18, 1978; and is
also preceded in death by one son, James; by two sisters, Mille and Eve; by four
brothers, Adam, Herman, John, and Gus; and by one granddaughter, Dawn.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 30, at Saint John
Lutheran Church in Phillips with Pastor Glenn Sokolowski officiating. Friends
may call at the Heindl Funeral Home in Phillips on Friday, July 29, after 5:00
P.M. and at the church on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of services.
Interment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Phillips
