Nichols, Minnie A. (Pawlicki) (10 APR 1938 - 31 JUL 2016)
Minnie A. Nichols, age 78 of Gilman was called to her heavenly home on Sunday,
July 31, 2016 after a four month courageous battle with brain cancer. She passed
away at home surrounded by the love of her family and under the care of Hope
Hospice.
Minnie was born July 23, 1938 in Lublin, WI to Leon and Martha (Lisieski)
Pawlicki.
She grew up in rural Lublin and graduated from Thorp High School in 1958. On
August 27, 1960, Minnie married Leonard Nichols of Gilman at St. Stanislaus
Catholic Church in Lublin. Together they lived and worked on their dairy farm
and raised six children. Through the years, Minnie has worked as a homemaker,
for Drangle Foods, Gilman Nursing Home, SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church and
Meadowbrook Cemetery, all located in Gilman.
She had a deep passion for her family, flowers, gardening, cooking, canning and
fishing and touched the hearts of everyone that knew her. Minnie will be
remembered for her many stylish hats, bright colors and loving heart. A member
of the church Rosary Society, she instilled and showed her family the importance
of love, faith and so much more.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Leonard; six children: Deanna (Chad)
Hoyord of Eau Claire, Randy (Karen), Dennis (Terri), Dianna (friend Mike Seng)
Nichols, Roger (Tina) and Lenny Nichols all of Gilman; 15 grandchildren; 13
great-grandchildren; a brother: Louis Pawlicki of Chippewa Falls and many nieces
and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister: Leona
Wisnewski; and brothers: Adam, Vince and Casey Pawlicki.
The Mass of Christian Burial was held on August 4 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic
Church, Gilman, with burial in the parish cemetery. Friends called on August 3
from 4-8 p.m. at the Gilman Funeral Home with a 7:30 p.m. Rosary; and again, at
the church on August 4, one hour prior to services.
The family would like to thank the community of Gilman, family and friends, Hope
Hospice, Wausau Aspirus Hospital and Cancer Center, the doctors, nurses and
staff and Marshfield Clinic for their care and kindness through Minnie’s
illness.
