Brehm, Muriel Ann (10 NOV 1934 - 1 AUG 2016)

Muriel Ann Brehm joined her Savior Jesus Christ on Monday August 1 at Wausau Manor in Wausau, WI.

Muriel was born on November 10, 1934 on a farm near Colby, WI to Elroy and Helen Brehm. She attended Pleasant Hill rural school, Zion Lutheran School, Colby and graduated in 1952 from Colby High School. Within a week after graduation she began her career at Employers Mutual, which became Wausau Insurance and presently is Liberty Mutual, in Wausau. She worked her way up in her position and retired there in 1995 after 43 years of service. She always enjoyed her many years of participating in the Wausau Insurance Chorus and the wonderful musical shows that they put on for the public.

Muriel was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and then Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wausau taking part in the choir and bell choir there along with many other activities. Her church family was very dear to her and she made many good friends there over the years. Her strong faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior carried her through her entire life and these past years of illness brought her to long to be with Him.

Muriel enjoyed gardening, walking her 3 miles a day and traveling with her dear friend and roommate of many years, Peggy Ross. She also dearly loved her extended family and the family gatherings for special holidays and events.

Muriel is survived by one sister, Adell Stelzel, Colby and one brother, Richard (Rick) Brehm and his wife Susan, Eden Prairie, MN., and a sister-in-law, Roberta Mallmann (Jim) New Berlin, WI. Also surviving are her much beloved nieces and nephews and their families: Kent Frome (Kim) Colby, and family, Angela Esselman (Kevin), Colby and Evan and Olivia, Colby, Kurt Frome (Lori), Colby, Mike Frome, and his sons, Mason, Parker and Jase, Cumming, GA, Kyle Frome (Laura) and their daughters Kember, Ava and Jade, Bonduel, WI, Rebecca Ayer (David), Campbell, CA and their children Caitlin and Phillip. Also nephew Eric Brehm (Delighla) and their children, Addison and Aiden, Hilton Head, SC. and niece, Jennifer Brehm and friend, Erik Anderson, Brooklyn Park, MN.

Muriel was preceded in death by her father and mother, Elroy and Helen (Thieme) Brehm, a brother, Clyde Brehm, a niece, Kim Juliann Frome and a brother-in-law, Lawrence Stelzel and her long time great friend and roommate, Peggy Ross.

A memorial service for Muriel will be held at 11:00 Friday August 5, 2016 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 930 Edgewood Road, Wausau. Rev. Kemp Jones will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Final resting place will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Helke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and you may sign our online guestbook at www.helke.com

The family would particularly like to thank the staff at Wausau Manor for the very personal and exemplary care Muriel has received over this long period of time and particularly during the five days before her death. We appreciate that more than we can express. A huge thank you also to her friend, Judy Urbanek, from Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for the weekly friendly visits with Muriel and offering her the Lord's Supper each week. She always enjoyed so much the other church members that Judy brought with her as surprise friends from her Good Shepherd family.
