Kathleen Dux, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Verland Dux, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), has
been accepted into "Young Americans in Concert – 1971." She will now be eligible
for a one-month tour throughout Europe.
The tour of 28 days includes four days in New York City for rehearsals on June
28; 2 days in Washington, D.C.; four days in London; two days in Brussels; three
days in Paris; two days in Zurich; two days in Innsbruck; two days in Venice and
Florence, and four days in Rome. The tour will start with a concert in New York
City's Carnegie Hall on July 2.
Kathy auditioned on tape for the program in March. Selections played were the
minor scale, major scale, chromatic scale, an etude, and her solo for the solo
and ensemble contest.
The tour will cost Kathy $995, not including transportation costs from here to
New York and back. Being accepted into "Young Americans in Concert" is not only
an honor to Kathy, but it is also an honor to the entire community.
Contributions, therefore, will be very much appreciated, says Gerald Mrotek,
band instructor.
