Mark Needham, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Needham, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), was
honored at Wisconsin State University, La Crosse on Saturday night, when he was
named the outstanding junior majoring in recreation and park administration.
The honor, the J.R. Bernabucci Recreation Award presented by the Coca Cola
Company, is accompanied by a plaque and $100, which Mark says will "be handy for
summer school." After the completion of the summer session, Needham will embark
on a year's internship in recreation therapy in a hospital, and will receive his
degree at the end of the 1971-72 school year. He is married to the former Julia
Lato.
The award was presented at Song Fest – 1971, an annual event sponsored at La
Crosse by the Parks and Recreation Association. Presented on the basis of
leadership, scholarship and servie, the award is named after J.R. Bernabucci,
the first manager of the La Crosse Coca Cola Company. The honor is highly
coveted by junior enrolled in recreation.
