Nowak, Jean A. (Zindar) (20 SEP 1959 - 5 AUG 2016)
Jean A. Nowak, 57, Stetsonville, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday,
August 6, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with illness.
Jean was born on April 8, 1959 in Milwaukee and was shortly thereafter adopted
by John and Hildegard (Heilman) Zindar.
She graduated from Sheboygan South High School and attended the University of
Wisconsin Eau Claire where she earned degrees in elementary education and
special education. She continued her education and later earned a Master’s
Degree from University of Wisconsin LaCrosse.
On July 2, 1983, she was united in marriage to David Nowak. The couple lived in
St. Nazianz, Wisconsin for three years where Jean taught 3rd and 4th Grade at
St. Gregory’s.
Jean and David moved to Stetsonville where Jean taught for many years at
Dorchester Elementary and later at Colby Elementary. She loved being with
children and had a special place in her heart for children with disabilities.
This quiet, unassuming woman leaves behind a legacy that will stand as an
inspiration to her former students, children, and family.
Jean was very involved with not only her students at school but also with the
children and teens at her church. In addition to her church activities, she
loved spending time with her family and friends at their cabin where she
marveled at the beauty of God’s creation and especially the loons, which she
loved watching. Jean’s gentle quiet spirit and warm smile will be missed by all
who knew her.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons Adam and Rebecca of
Eagan MN, Aaron and significant other Tera and her son Shaun, of Humbird,
Wisconsin and her brother John Zindar of Jersey City, New Jersey.
She is preceded in death by her parents John and Hildegard Zindar and infant
grandson Deagan.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Abbotsford
Evangelical Free Church where the visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until
service time. Rev. Bruce Jahnke will officiate. Burial will take place in
Evergreen Cemetery II, Medford.
In honor of Jean, memorials can be made to Special Olympics and Apple Crisis
Pregnancy Center of Eau Claire. Rembs Funeral Homes of Marshfield has been
entrusted with arrangements.
