Untiedt, Patricia “Pat” A. (Grell) (10 FEB 1939 - 4 AUG 2016)

Patricia “Pat” A. Untiedt, age 77, of Colby, passed away on Aug. 4, 2016, surrounded by her loving family under the tender care of hospice at her home.

Pat was born on Feb. 10, 1939, the daughter of Robert and Nina (Meinders) Grell in Rockford, Ill. She was raised in Belleville, Ill., attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from the eighth grade in 1953.

Pat moved to Colby with her family in the summer of 1953 and graduated from Colby High School in 1957. She was united in marriage to Harry Untiedt on Sept. 27, 1957, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby. Together they raised five children. In 1959, they moved to Milwaukee and in 1974 they moved to Spring Grove, Ill. After retirement, they moved back to Colby in 1998.

Pat was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby. She enjoyed watching and feeding the birds, especially hummingbirds. She also had a large garden and did a lot of canning, liked making afghans, quilting, and sewing. Pat loved to listen to Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley and has a vast collection of memorabilia. She was a member of the Colby Lions Club and a life member of the Colby Rural Arts.

Pat is survived by her husband of 57 years, Harry, of Colby; five children, Susan Kelly of Abbotsford, Beth (Randy) Schwantes of Stratford, Jeff Untiedt of Colby, Deborah Good of Fox Lake, Ill., and Jennifer (Robert) Cotter of Bristol; five grandchildren, Eric Stewart of Tampa Bay, Fla., Krystal (Mark) Reed of Genoa City, Jason (Stephanie) Stewart, Iris Good and Luis Good, all of Fox Lake, Ill.; and three great-grandchildren, Olivia Stewart, Mason and Luke Reed.

She is further survived by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John Untiedt, Alexandria, Va., Joan Petrykowski, Racine, Donna Scidmore, Colby, Karen (Barry) Dorazio, Prescott, Ariz., Geraldine (Paul) Hein, Alexandria, Va., Beverly Untiedt, Joliet, Ill., Patricia Untiedt, Cary, Ill., Cindy (Bill) Singstock, Schofield, and Olga and Lee Untiedt; many nieces and nephews; and her faithful companion, Maggie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Michael Grell; three brothers-in-law, Jerry Untiedt, Lynn Untiedt and Eugene Untiedt; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Arend.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby. Father Savari will preside. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Colby. Family and friends are welcome from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford and from 10 a.m. until time of the service Saturday at the church.

Serving as Pat’s pallbearers are Tony Untiedt, Keith Untiedt, Ryan Untiedt, Paul Hein, Jason Stewart and Luke Schwantes.

The Untiedt family would like to extend a heartfelt gratitude to all the staff at Ministry Home Care Hospice, Arlene Lieders and Phyllis Untiedt for their wonderful compassion and care Pat received.

Memorials can be designated to the Marshfield Clinic Cancer Research.
