Schindler, James L. (18 JAN 1930 – 26 JUL 2016)

James L. Schindler, age 86, of Merrill, WI completed his baptismal journal and entered eternal life, Tuesday, July 26, 2016, with family at his side and after a very short battle with cancer.

Jim was born January 18, 1930 at Thorp, WI to Sebastian and Anna (Bowe). He married Lois Carlson on August 30, 1974 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity, WI. Earlier in life he farmed and then later he worked for Liberia Mfg. Co. and with dry wall contractors for dry wall finish work.

Jim is lovingly survived by his wife of 41 years, Lois: his children Karen Carlson of Albuquerque, NM, and Erland (Jeanine) Carlson of Merrill, WI. He is further survived by grandchildren Garret (Jill) Carlson of Olin, IA and Nicole (Adam) Pagenkopf of Glencoe, MN, He has 3 great grand-children who survive; Lily and Lucas Carlson and Murielle Pagenkopf. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Alan Carlson, and all of his 11 siblings.

Jim was an avid gardener, fisherman, hunter, and woodworker. He lovingly took care of his home, family, and gardens. He moved to Merrill in September 2013 from a farm east of Unity, WI to be closer to family.

Cremation has taken place and at Jim's request there will be no public memorial. A private family gathering will take place at a later date. The family wishes to thank the staff of Bell Tower Residence and Aspirus Hospice for the loving care they showed to Jim and to his family.
