Wilcenski, Raymond Stanley (22 April 1923 - 12 May 2016) With Flag
Raymond Stanley Wilcenski, 93, died May 12, 2016, at Prelude Assisted Living in
Woodbury, Minnesota. He was born April 22, 1923, in Gilman, Wisconsin, to Frank
and Lucy Wilcenski.
Ray graduated from Gilman High School. He attended the University of
Wisconsin-Eau Claire and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. Ray later
received his Master of Science degree in Education - English from the University
of Wisconsin (Madison).
He was a World War II veteran who received numerous ribbons and medals including
the Purple Heart. Ray taught school in Holcombe, Prescott, and New Richmond,
Wisconsin as well as the John Glenn Middle School in Minnesota. He later worked
for the State of Minnesota which he retired from.
Ray is survived by one sister, Adeline Beck of Ladysmith; and many nieces and
nephews, great, and great-grand nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Aloise and Norman of
Gilman; and a sister Genevieve Lewien of Thorp.
Ray loved working in his flowerbeds at his home in St. Paul. He was a worldwide
traveler. He also enjoyed reading his novels and taking continuing educational
courses at the University of Minnesota in a variety of subjects.
A celebration of life is yet to be scheduled.
