Krause, David John “Louie” (21 JUN 1953 - 16 AUG 2016)
David John “Louie” Krause, 63, Edgar, died at his home on Saturday, July 16,
2016.
Louie was born on Father’s Day, June 21, 1953, and was the first-born son of
John and Marie (Schueller) Krause.
He attended St. John’s grade school and was a 1971 graduate of Edgar High
School. As a young boy, he worked on the family farm with his dad and spent
summers helping others make hay. While he was in high school, he worked
full-time at MidWhey Powder in Edgar.
Following graduation, Louie worked at Green Bay Packaging, did bridge
construction and roofing and graded calves at Edgar Packing Plant. He also
raised veal calves.
Louie leased Shimmel’s Bar in Edgar for one year where he found a career his
personality was perfect for. In 1980, at the age of 26, he purchased the Uekert
Tavern in Edgar and Louie’s Pub was established. At the time of his death, he
had just begun his 37th year in business. Over the years much fun was had and
many great memories were made with Louie.
He is survived by his wife, Sue (Kann) Krause; sisters, Georgine (Gary) Hughes
and Louise (Bob) Rajek; brothers, Dan Krause, Virg (Shirley) Krause, Joe (Gail)
Krause, Don (Caroline) Krause, Kelly Krause and Rich (Robin) Krause;
brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sandy (Gene) Schoenfuss, Scott (Kathy) Kann
and Amy (Greg) Gust; 27 nieces and nephews; 25 great-nieces and nephews; his
godson, Noah Gust; and goddaughter, Jenny Krause.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marie Krause; and his
mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gordon (Red) and Ethel Kann.
A celebration of Louie’s life was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20, at St.
John Lutheran Church, W1000 Highway N, Edgar. Pastor Gail Sowell presided.
Friends called from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Pallbearers were Louie’s brothers, Dan, Virg, Joe, Donnie, Kelly and Rich
Krause.
Everyone was invited to wear their favorite Louie’s Pub attire to the
celebration of Louie’s life.
Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar, assisted the family with the arrangements.
