Ley, Hildagard (8 May 1901 - 28 June 1974)
Funeral services were held Monday from St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Chili, for
Mrs. Hildagard Ley, 73, who died June 28 at Eau Claire Manor, Eau Claire. The
Rev. Robert Houston officiated and burial followed in the parish cemetery. The
Gilbertson Funeral Home, Granton, was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Ley, the former Hildagard Schweiger, was born May 8, 1901, at Loyal. Her
marriage to Charles Ley, who preceded her in death on January 18, 1963, took
place February 5, 1919, in Neillsville. The couple farmed near Chili for a
number of years and later moved to the village. Mrs. Ley was a member of St.
Stephen’s parish.
She is survived by three children: Elmer Ley of Wisconsin Rapids, Mrs. Robert
(Irene) Englebretson and Mrs. Thomas (Alice) Lang of Eau Claire; three sisters:
Mrs. Belle Wehling, Mrs. George Schellinger and Mrs. Bertha Rueth of Loyal; one
brother, John Schweiger of Loyal; and six grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Gary Schellinger, Leroy Schmitz, Gary Schmitz, Don Bersell,
George Schecklman and Marlin Schmitz.
