Hameloth, David (Missions Assignment - 4 July 1974)

David Hameloth, 23 year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hameloth, Rt. 1 Willard, will leave today (July 4) for a five-week missionary assignment in Kenya, East Africa together with 10 other Ambassadors in Mission (AIM) college students.

The group will be accompanied by the Rev. David Irwin, foreign missionary editor of “The Evangel,” a weekly Assembly of God publication. In Kenya, the students will be working with a missionary, the Rev. De. Kingsriter and each will have an African youth his own age to act as an interpreter in the Swahili language.

Ambassadors in Mission, is a project of the Assembly of God churches, is designed to give youth on-the-field experience in missionary work.

David is a 1969 graduate of Greenwood High School and will be a senior this fall at Central Bible College, Springfield, Mo. He spent four months last fall traveling throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin with a musical trio. On weekends during the past five months; he has been showing slides in Missouri and Illinois of his first AIM assignment. David spent 18 days in August 1972 in Munich, Germany, with 150 other youths for “Olympic Outreach.”

For his present assignment, he was required to raise approximately $1,000 for plane fare and expenses. Several friends, relatives and churches, especially his home church, the Neillsville Assembly of God where the Rev. D. E. Sprague is pastor, assisted him. David is grateful to all who have helped make his assignment possible, and thus will share in his reward of service in Africa.
