Hayden, Jennie (23 January 1882 - 2 July 1974)
A lifelong Clark County resident, Mrs. Jennie Hayden, 92, of Neillsville, died
late Tuesday afternoon, July 2, at Memorial Hospital shortly after a fall in her
home. Services were held Friday from the Granton United Methodist Church with
the Rev. William Dushek of Greenfield officiating. Interment was in the York
Center Cemetery. The Gilbertson Funeral home, Granton, was in charge of
arrangements.
Mrs. Hayden, the former Jennie Winn, was born January 23, 1882, in the Town of
York. She was married to Edward Graves on October 10, 1899. Mr. Graves preceded
her in death. On March 15, 1916, she was married to Andrew Hayden, who also
preceded her in death. Mrs. Hayden lived on a farm in the Town of York befor3e
moving to Granton, and moved to Neillsville in February of this year. She was a
member of the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Glyde Steinich of Neillsville; two foster
children whom she raised (the son and daugher of her sister); Everett Gardner of
Mayville and Mrs. Eileen Lemonds of Stoughton; and three grandchildren, 14
great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Craig, Graves, Stephen Graves, Rodney Steinbring, Monroe Winn,
Alvin Dahl and Milford Rowe.
Mrs. Meissner was the organist and Miss Susan Dudei sang two selections. As the
body of Mrs. Hayden was taken from the church, the congregation sang “How Great
Thou Art.”
Members of the Royal Neighbors Camp attended the service in a body.
