Zernicke, Karen (8 September 1939 - 25 June 1974)
Funeral services were held June 29 from the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home, Owen,
for Karen DeLong Zernicke, 34, of Tacoma, Wa., who succumbed to injuries
received in an automobile accident near Coulee City, Wa., June 25. She was a
former Humbird and Alma Center resident. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl DeLong,
live in Withee.
The former Karen DeLong was born September 8, 1939, at Two Rivers and was
educated at Humbird and Alma Center schools. Her marriage to Gerald Zernicke
took place August 17, 1959, at Shawano.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include a son, Jerry Lee and four
daughters: Annette, Andrea, Amy and Amber, all at home; her grandmother, Mrs.
Emma O’Leary, Humbird; a sister, Caralee DeLong, Two Rivers; and five brothers:
Ronald of Owen, Gerald of Withee, Russell of Two Rivers and Mark and Owen, both
of Cleveland.
The Rev. Robert H. Sullivan, pastor of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Withee,
officiated at the services, which were followed by burial in the Withee
Riverside Cemetery at Withee.
