Duane Barr, 77, Ogema and Garden Prairie, Illinois, died at his home in Ogema on
Sunday, August 28, 2016.
He was born in Ogema on June 10, 1939, the son of Robert and Viola (Nelson)
Barr. He was a 1957 graduate of the Prentice High School, and attended Wisconsin
State University in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
He was married to Carol Lee Guzinski in Saint Theresa Catholic Church in
Westboro on May 26, 1962. He was employed in the concrete construction industry
his entire working career and for many of the later years operated his own
concrete contracting business in Illinois.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Marengo, Illinois, and of the
Bushbenders Snowmobile Club. In his free time he enjoyed snowmobiling, was an
avid Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs fan, enjoyed watching auto racing and
local sports.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Lee; by five children, Brenda Barr, New York,
NY, Kimberly (James), Libasci, Waukegan, Illinois, Terry (Jennifer), Wauconda,
Ill, Ricky (Wendy), Sturtevant, WI, and Father Timothy, Freeport, IL; and by 9
grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by one brother, Glen.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, September 1, at Saint
John the Baptist Catholic Church in Prentice with Father Gerald Hagen and Father
Timothy Barr concelebrating the Funeral Mass. Interment will be in the Hillside
Cemetery in Ogema.
A Parish Wake Service will be held at the funeral home at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday
evening. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday after
5:00 P.M. and at the church on Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of
services.
