Giwojna, Lenore Edith (8 June 1928 - 28 August 2016)

Lenore E. Giwojna, age 88, of Thorp, passed away at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, on Sunday, August 28, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2016, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church, in Thorp. Rev. Janusz Kowalski will officiate and burial will follow in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church, on Thursday, from 10:30 until time of service.

Lenore Edith Heiman was born on June 8, 1928, in Thorp, to Andrew and Edith (Benzschawel) Heiman. She was raised on the family farm and received her education at Thorp area schools, graduating from Thorp High School in 1946. After completing her education, Lenore went to work for the Thorp Finance Corporation in Thorp. She was united in marriage to Francis J. Giwojna on May 21, 1953, at St. Bernard Catholic church in Thorp. After her marriage, Lenore worked as a homemaker raising her daughter, until becoming employed for the City of Thorp as the Deputy City Clerk. Later, she did income tax and accounting work with her husband until her retirement.

In her spare time, Lenore had many interests, but especially enjoyed gardening, crafts, knitting and crocheting. She was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church and its PCCW.

Lenore is survived by her daughter, Jayne (Randall) Mooney of Bettendorf, IA; three grandchildren: Suzanne Mooney, Caroline Mooney and Patrick Mooney, all of Bettendorf, IA; one brother, Elmer Heiman of Thorp; one sister-in-law, Gladys Heiman of Hales Corners, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis, in 1980; two brothers: Raymond and Leonard Heiman; and one sister, Ella Hubbard.
