Turek, Louis (5 March 1928 - 18 August 2016) With Flag
Louis Turek, born March 5, 1928, passed away on August 18, 2016, at the
Wisconsin Veterans’ Home in Chippewa Falls. He was the youngest of seven
children born to Joseph and Mary (Strzok) Turek and grew up on the family farm
in Gilman, WI. He served in the Army in Korea and was honorably discharge. All
five of the Turek brothers served in WWII and/or Korea and returned safely.
During his lifetime, Louis resided and worked in Wisconsin, Montana, and Idaho.
He enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing, polka dancing, and
was also a St. Louis Cardinal fan.
He is survived by his sister, Stella Meyers, of Stanley; brother, Leo Turek of
Poplar Grove, IL; and many nieces and nephews, several living close by for
regular visits to see Uncle Louie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Emily Bruch; and three
brothers: Theodore, Edward, and Clarence Turek.
A family graveside service will be held at a later date.
