Van Laarhoven, Eunice E. (Bolstad) (11 OCT 1956 - 31 AUG 2016)
Eunice E. Van Laarhoven died Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at her home surrounded
by her loving family.
Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Eunice E. Van Laarhoven, 83,
a resident of Blue Grass, Iowa were held at 9 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 29 at St.
Andrew’s Catholic Church, 333 W. Lotte St., Blue Grass. Burial was held in Blue
Grass Cemetery.
The family greeted friends on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the Halligan McCabe
DeVries Funeral Home, 614 N. Main Street, downtown Davenport with a prayer
service and time of sharing at 3:45 p.m.
Eunice Elaine Bolstad was born on Dec. 31, 1932 in Gilman, daughter of Norman
and Bernice (Wells) Bolstad.
She was united in marriage to Vernon C. Van Laarhoven on Nov. 21, 1953 at Holy
Family Catholic Church, Medford. Vern preceded her in death on April 12, 2012.
Eunice was a 1950 graduate of Gilman High School and later graduated from
Medford Teachers College. She taught 3rd and 4th grade for many years in
Wisconsin.
Eunice enjoyed dancing, reading, traveling, playing cards and crossword puzzles.
She was also a wonderful cook. Most importantly, she enjoyed being around her
family.
She is survived by her children, Charles (fiancée, Jocy Henry) Van Laarhoven,
Buffalo, Carla Dacon, Rock Island and Sherry (Tom) Estrada, Blue Grass; 5
grandchildren, Heather Van Horn, Eric (Molly) Van Laarhoven, Aaron Dacon, Andy
Dacon and Anthony Van Laarhoven; 3 great-grandchildren, Jordan Bunch, Chloe Van
Laarhoven and Nathan Van Laarhoven; special grandchildren, Hudson and Tyler; and
sisters, Fern Johnson, Sheldon and Clarice Gabryel, Gilman.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Harvey; and a sister, Mina
Lee. May they rest in peace.
