Spiess, Siegfried (27 MAR 1934 - 28 AUG 2016)

Siegfried W. Spiess, 82, of Colby, formerly of Des Plaines, IL, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at The Waterford in Colby.

In keeping with Siegfried’s wishes a private committal service will be held at a later date.

Siegfried was born on March 27, 1934 to Phillip and Emily (Merk) in Austria. He served his country in the United States Army.

Siegfried was married to Gerda (Fritz), they later divorced. To the union, five children were born.

Siegfried worked for over 25 years as a tool and die maker for Yates-Sandusky Manufacturing in Chicago, IL and then later retired as a heating and air conditioning technician at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.

Siegfried is survived by his dear friends, Florence Edblom and Snoopy of Colby; his children: Robert Spiess, Diane Bouchee, Richard (Katherine) Spiess and Susanne Spiess; his grandchildren: Elizabeth, Erica, Ellyse and Ethan Spiess, Timothy Bouchee, Evan, Connor and Noelle Spiess, Robert and Joseph Romando; sibling Fritz (Kathe) Spiess; and sister-in-laws Helga Spiess and Evelinde (Henning) Windel; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his infant daughter, Linda Spiess; and his siblings, Rudy, Johann, Gustave and Wilhelm Spiess, and Maria (Joseph) Asitsch.

The family wishes to thank the staff at The Waterford of Colby and Aspirus Hospice Services for the compassionate care of Siegfried.
