Matti, Shirley Mae (15 January 1938 - 29 August 2016)

Shirley Mae Matti, 78, of Humbird died Monday, Aug. 29, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems- Eau Claire.

Shirley was born Jan. 15, 1938, to Erwin and Mary (Smoczynski) Gruper in Chicago, IL. She was united in marriage to James D. Matti June 23, 1956. Jim and Shirley were blessed with 57 years of marriage before Jim passed away Oct. 30, 2013. Family was very important to Shirley, especially for Sunday get-togethers. She believed family always came first. Many of her friends and family called her Connie.

Shirley is survived by her three children, Rick (Beth) Mattie of Alma Center, Michael (Trudy) Mattie of Willard and Barbara Matti of Humbird; two grandsons; six granddaughters; 12 great-grandsons; and 14 great-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Matti; her parents, Ervin and Mary Gruper; brothers, Ervin C. Gruper and Joseph Gruper; and a sister, Marie Trycta.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Black River Memorial Hospital, Black River Falls EMTs, doctors and nurses from the third floor and the CCU team at Mayo Clinic Health Systems.
