Ingvald O. Hembre of Madison, Wisconsin, today received a commendation ward from
the Soil Conservation Society of America.
Society President Einar Roget of Little Rock, Arkansas presented the award at a
President's Luncheon following the opening session of the three-day meeting.
Hembre was cited for a lifetime of dedicated work in the field of agricultural
education and natural resource conservation, and for his leadership as the first
president of the Wisconsin Chapter of the Society.
Hembre is a retired professor of soils at the University of Wisconsin, and also
served as executive secretary of the Wisconsin Soil and Water Conservation
Commission.
Mr. Hembre is a former Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) resident and graduated from
Greenwood High School.
