Olson, Otto “Junior” (13 JUL 1932 - 10 SEP 2016)

Otto “Junior” Olson, age 84, of Medford, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Golden Living-Continental Manor in Abbotsford surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, September 16, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville, with Father Michael Hayden officiating.

Cremainal Inurnment will take place at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Holway.

Visitation will be at 1:00 P.M. until time of services at 3:00 P.M. Friday, September 16, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville.

Otto was born on July 13, 1932, in the Township of Holway, to Otto and Christina (Hoffman) Olson Sr.

He attended Lincoln Graded School in the Township of Holway.

On May 22, 1957, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville, Otto married the love of his life Karen L. Riemer. She survives.

Otto grew up in the Township of Holway. After school, he farmed until going into the U.S. Army from 1951-1953 where he served as an MP during the Korean War. Otto then returned to Holway and continued to farm until 1966 when he went to work for Lato Corp. in Thorp as a Carpenter. In 1977, he opened Olson Construction and operated it until his retirement in 1994. Otto enjoyed making firewood, deer hunting, snowmobiling, camping, fishing, playing cards, visiting with his friends and neighbors and he loved to spend time with his family.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Boxrucker-Berry American Legion Post #519 and past member of the Pine Creek Riders Snowmobiling Club.

Otto is survived by his wife, Karen L. Olson of Medford; children Gary (Lori) Olson of Mukwonago, Guy (Penny) and Monte (Mary) Olson both of Medford; 7 grandchildren; 1 step-granddaughter; 4 great grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his parents, Otto and Christina (Hoffman) Olson Sr.; son Gordon Olson; grandson Gary Olson Jr.; and siblings Norman Olson and a sister in infancy, Viola Olson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Otto’s family to be designated at a later date.
