Ewoldt, Frances (25 September 1932 - 3 September 2016)
Frances Ewoldt, 83, passed away Sept. 3, 2016, at The House of the Dove,
Marshfield. She will be cremated.
Frances was born Sept. 25, 1932, in Pleasant Valley, Scott County, IA, to
Gustave Otto Ritter and Annie (Slaby) Ritter. She went to school in Scott
County, completing the 11th grade. She married Donald Ewoldt June 23, 1950, at
St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Davenport, IA. They celebrated 50 years of
marriage in 2000. She loved baking and cooking, and she made over 100 quilts,
giving all of them away to family and friends. She helped with 4-H and got
Little League started in Pleasant Valley. She drove school bus in Iowa for eight
years and worked at the Davenport Country Club. They raised six children and
moved to Greenwood in 1974. They dairy farmed for 17 years and she drove school
bus in Greenwood for 13 years.
Frances is survived by two daughters: Becky Derry of Green Acres, FL, and Lynn
(Randy) Stabnow, Greenwood; four sons: Don (Kate) of Chesterton, IN, Vaughn
(Jill) of Lafayette, CO, Gary (Nancy) of Greenwood and Brian (Kaye) of
Neillsville; 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. She is also survived
by her sister, Beverly Hardy, and her brother, Jim (Marilyn) Ritter;
brother-in-law Kenny (Mary Jo) Ewoldt, and sister-in-law, Delores Ewoldt. She
had 46 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 53 years, Donald, in 2003;
her father in 2002, her mother in 2006 and her brother, Dick Ritter, in 1964, as
well as many other family members.
Memorials may be made to the Ewoldt family for great-grandson Carter, for his
educational and medical needs.
A memorial luncheon will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, from 11 a.m. until 3
p.m. at Parkway Pines, N10005 STH 73 Greenwood, WI
