Ortiz, Ramon “Ray” (21 February 1926 - 11 September 2016)

Ray Ortiz, 90, of Granton died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, at the House of the Dove in Marshfield.

Ramon Ortiz was born Feb. 21, 1926 in Kansas, in a boxcar, the son of Bernard and Marie (Amaro) Ortiz. They moved to Chicago, IL, and Ray worked for Welches Scientific Co. as a Dock Handler, and Security Guard. He retired in 1991 as a dock handler, but continued as a security guard. He was united in marriage to France Diaz in Chicago, they later divorced. He was married to Arlene Mallingar March 6, 1978.

Ray was a huge Chicago Cubs fan; attending many games. He loved to travel to Wisconsin for vacation.

He is survived by three children: Debbie Stillman of Granton, Diane Hernandez of Granton and Susan Asuncion of Onalaska; three step-children: Bob (Renee) Mallingar of Carpentersville, IL, Jim (Kathy) Mallingar of Summit, IL and Lynn (Paris) Bessemer of Richmond Park, IL; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Arlene, his parents, Bernard and Mary Ortiz, and siblings: Lupie, Lucy, Pauline, Maximino, Kito and Millie.

A graveside service for Ray will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at the Windfall Cemetery in Granton.
