Friant, Walter Elliott (31 AUG 1924 – 22 FEB 2016)
Walter Elliott Friant, age 91, of Marshfield, WI, passed away peacefully on the
morning of Monday, February 22, 2016 at Atrium Post-Acute Care of Marshfield. A
funeral will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 25, 2016 at
Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home at 1010 East Veteran's Parkway in Marshfield.
Visitation will be held at the same location from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on
Wednesday, February 24, 2016 and again one hour prior to the service on Thursday
at 10:00 AM. Burial will take place at Yolo Cemetery in Chili, Town of Fremont.
Walter was born August 31, 1924, the son of Walter Morris Friant and Sayde C.
Colbourn in Camden, New Jersey. Walter served in the U.S. Army during WWII and
the Korean War.
He was married to Helen Herring. They had three daughters: Glenda Sampair
(adopted), Ranae Dalluhn, and Denise Brown.
Walter worked as an accountant for Northern Pacific Railroad which later became
Burlington Northern Railroad until his retirement.
On June 8, 1984, he married his one true love, Dorothy Elaine Beil in the
Lutheran Church in St. Paul, MN. Together they enjoyed traveling, volunteering
for community events, amateur radio club, and spending time with family.
Walter is lovingly survived by his wife: Dorothy; children: Ranae Dalluhn of Ham
Lake, MN, and Denise Brown of Somerset, WI; and step-children: Linda (Harlan)
Schultz of Wausau WI, Jerry (Susan) Beil of Chili, WI, and Gary (Diane) Beil of
Marshfield, WI. He is further survived by his grandchildren: Kriss, Ed, Ronda,
Jessica, Michael, and Falicia; his step-granchildren: Tamara (Troy) Hanson,
Jennifer (Chris) Sawyer, Nicholas (Chelsea) Beil, Amy (Ryan) Larson, Stephanie
(John) Felhofer, Michael (Tammy) Beil, Matthew Beil, Markus (Lindsey) Beil; as
well as twelve great grandchildren.
He was a member of Amateur Radio Club; a member of the American Legion, and VFW.
He was a SKYWARN volunteer. He was a very loving and generous person by nature
and will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Walter is preceded in death by his parents: Walter and Sayde; a brother: Archie;
as well as a daughter: Glenda.
