At Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Owen, Fr. H.L. Crubel read the nuptial mass
which united Miss Karen E. Micke and Richard J. Bord in marriage, Saturday,
August 27, 1966.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Micke of route 1, Owen (Clark
Co., Wis.), and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis J. Board of Wisconsin
Rapids.
Approaching the altar the bride wore a floor length gown of organza and Alencon
lace. The fitted bodice was trimmed with Alencon designed with an open neckline,
and short sleeves. The bell shaped skirt with a panel was bordered with Alencon
lace and complemented by a sweeping, chapel train, accented by a scatter pattern
of lace motifs. The butterfly veil was held in place by a wide crown of Alencon
lace and seed pearls. Her cascade bouquet was made up of white cymbidium orchids
with stephanotis and ivy.
The bride's maid of honor was her sister, Miss Kristina Micke, with bridesmaids,
Mrs. Klayon Micke, Owen, and Mrs. Thomas Smith, Wisconsin Rapids. Junior
bridesmaid was Miss Bonnie Bord, sister of the groom, from Wisconsin Rapids.
They were attired in yellow floor length gowns in sheer over taffeta. Their
slightly raised bodice accented with multi-colored Venice lace were fashioned
with square necklines and sheer full sleeves of wrist length. Their hair braid
garden hats had a matching trim. They carried a fireside basket of purple asters
and white and yellow pompons.
Attending the groom as best man was Thomas Smith of Wisconsin Rapids, and
groomsmen were Clayton Micke of Owen and James Dunn of Wisconsin Rapids. Ushers
were Robert Humke Jr. of Bloomington, Ind. And John Humke of Skokie, Ill.
Following the wedding a dinner was served in the dining room of Holy Rosary
Catholic Church. A reception was held that evening at the Meadowview Country
Club.
The new Mrs. Bord is a graduate of the Columbus High School at Marshfield and
attended St. Joseph's School of X-ray Technology. She is employed as an x-ray
technician at Riverview Hospital at Wisconsin Rapids.
The groom is a graduate of Lincoln High School at Wisconsin Rapids and is a
senior student at WSU at Stevens Point.
They will make their home at 460 1/2 1st Avenue South in Wisconsin Rapids.
