Jones, Beatrice E. "Bea" (21 AUG 1919 - 11 SEP 2016)
Beatrice “Bea” E. Sherwood Jones, 97, Dunlap, Calif., formerly of Fairchild,
passed away peacefully at 1:25 a.m., on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016.
Beatrice Sherwood was born on Aug. 21, 1919, in Illinois, to Jay and Alma (nee
Olcott) Sherwood. She attended and graduated from school in Illinois and while
there, worked as a housekeeper and seamstress. Bea would later move to
Wisconsin, marry three times, and take on such roles as a farmer’s wife and
homemaker. As the years passed, she would eventually settle in Fairchild, where
her daily routine consisted of morning walks to the local post office, bank,
café, and grocery store. Bea moved to California in February 2014 and was cared
for by her grandson Chad Heintz-Nunes, and his spouse, David Nunes Jr. She
entered the Golden Living Center in Sanger, Calif., on Aug. 24, 2016, due to her
failing health and was there until her time of death. She loved to visit with
her friends and family, sew, make fancy doll dresses, crochet, embroider, listen
to old country music, and read Western books; least we forget, she also loved
Betty Boop.
Bea is survived by one brother, Orville Sherwood of Stanley; eight children:
Clara (Gerald) Pettis of Augusta, Joann Benson of Neillsville, Gene (Betty) Hehl
of Poynette, Bernice (Charlie) Northup of Greenwood, Wesley Jones Sr. of Racine,
Willard Jones of Altoona, William (Linda) Jones of Fairchild, and Darlene (Alan)
Rakovec of Loyal. Her legacy is further carried on by her many grandchildren,
great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; eight brothers: Ellsworth Sherwood,
George Sherwood, Robert Sherwood, Everett Sherwood, Warren Sherwood, Edward
Sherwood, Paul Sherwood, and LeRoy Sherwood; two sisters, Clara Sherwood
(Dickenson) and Shirley Sherwood (Palms); one daughter, Betty Jane Hehl (Kauten),
two sons-in-laws: Burly Kauten and Gerald Pettis; and one grandson and two
great-grandsons.
Much thanks is given to Chad and David who took her in and cared for her and for
the services provided by the Hines Hospice and the Golden Living Center
