Dorothy M. Voge, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Voge, route 2, Owen (Clark Co.,
Wis.), recently completed 10 weeks of basic training at Recruit Training
Command, United States Naval Training Center, Bainbridge, Maryland, and was
graduated during a military review August 26, 1966. The local WAVE, a former
student at Owen-Withee High Senior High School, spent a 14-day leave with herr
parents before reporting to U.S. Naval Training Center at Great Lakes, Illinois,
for Hospital Corps School.
Hospital apprentice Voge received instruction in Naval Orientation, Naval
history, citizenship and current events, first aid, physical training, naval
ships, aircraft and armament, naval jobs and training, self-improvement,
military bearing and drill, during her indoctrination period.
The Owen WAVE enlisted June 17, 1966 at the U.S. Navy Recruiting Station,
Wausau, for three years, and sworn in at the U.S. Navy Recruitment Station in
Milwaukee.
