Hamann, Mary Ann R. (Schlag) (30 JUL 1935 - 30 JUN 2014)
Mary Ann R. Hamann, 78, Merrill, died Monday, June 30, 2014 at Bell Tower
Residence, Merrill.
She was born July 30, 1935 in the town of Maine, daughter of the late Wilbert
and Floretta (Latzig) Schlag. On July 29, 1956 she married Milton Hamann at Zion
Lutheran Church, town of Maine. He preceded her in death on August 28, 2013.
For more than 30 years Mary Ann worked for the United Postal Service, starting
out in Rothschild and retiring in Mosinee. Mary Ann also worked at J.C. Penny
and was known to be the beautician in the family. She loved tending to her
flower beds, traveling, camping and spending the winters in Gulf Shores.
Survivors include her children, Julie (Ron) Schuster and Michael (Coleen)
Hamann, both of Merrill, four grandchildren, Jessica Kallberg, Jonathon
Schuster, Megan (Daniel) Coffield and Zachary (fiancé Sara Belz) Hamann, four
great grandchildren, Triton, Ashton, Lexi and Stephen, one sister, Karen (Roger)
Lenzner, Merrill, one brother Robert (Marlene) Schlag, Merrill, one
brother-in-law, Harold (Lenora) Hamann, town of Hamburg along with nieces,
nephews and other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey A.
Hamann and two brothers, David and Roger Schlag.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Bell Tower
Residence, 1500 O'Day Street, Merrill. Chaplain Carol Mancl will officiate.
Entombment will be in Garden of Eternal Rest Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park,
Wausau. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the
Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau and again on Thursday
from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the Chapel. In lieu of flowers a
memorial fund is being established. Online condolences may be expressed at
