Rinehart, Joyce Mildred (Fischer) (25 JAN 1928 - 21 SEP 2016)

Joyce M. (Fischer) Rinehart, age 88, of Owen, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Aspirus Care and Rehab in Medford where she had been a resident for 2 1/2 years.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Withee. The Rev. Thomas Myhre will officiate. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Town of Hixon.

Family and friends are welcome from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 30 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the church.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons Nick and Neal Thieme, Glen Turner, Jr., Warren Rinehart, Jr., and great-grandsons, Joshua and Jared Krueger.

Joyce Mildred Fischer was born on January 25, 1928, the daughter of William A. and Anna P. (Damm) Fischer in Medford, the youngest of five children.

She grew up on the family farm on Castle Road and attended Thielke Grade School on Hwy. 64. In her freshmen year, Joyce walked four miles to Medford to attend high school. Her last three years, she roomed with three other girls above Hoffman's Store and worked lunch hours at a restaurant to earn her room and board. She graduated in 1946.

Joyce worked at Bert Alm Realty and William Hoppe CPA doing bookkeeping and income taxes starting one week after graduation. When Mr. Hoppe retired, she went to work for Karl Miller doing bookwork for Lindow Auto Sales in Medford and Sebold Chevrolet in Abbotsford.

Joyce was united in marriage to Donald C. Rinehart on June 21, 1947 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Medford and resided just west of Medford on Hw. 64 until April of 1951 when they bought Hilts Jewelry Store in Owen. She continued being a housewife and mother but also helped in the jewelry store and did bookkeeping for Auberg Chevrolet-Pontiac in Owen and also preparing tax returns.

Joyce was very active in her community, being a member of the Owen Businessmen's Club, American Legion Auxiliary (where she held many offices in local county units), O-W Fire Department Auxiliary, Chairman of 50th Celebration of the City of Owen Jubilee and Friends of the Old School. She also was instrumental in getting a branch of Time Federal Savings Bank to locate to Owen. She continued this involvement until 2014.

Joyce is survived by her five children: Patricia Thieme of Withee, Delores (Glen) Turner, New Glarus, Warren (Wanda) Rinehart of Terra Alta WV, Douglas (Diane) Rinehart of Spring Lake Park, MN and Dennis (Renee) Rinehart of Anoka, MN; 16 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; one great-great- grandson and one due in the spring.

She is also survived by sisters-in-law: Doris (Ken) Bartelt, Nellie Reed, Joyce Mae Rinehart, Loretta McClain, Linda Fischer; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald in 2005; her brothers: Herbert (Lenora) Fischer, Melvin (Beulah) Fischer and Clifford Fischer; her sister: Myrtle (Norbert) Faber and one granddaughter, Brandy Sue.
