Class of Owen-Withee High School (1961) met for its 55th reunion on Saturday, September 24, at Meadowview County Club.

According to those who determine generational categories, this group is included in the “Silent” or traditional generation but it was anything but quiet as they conversed and laughed with each other. Just a few statistics that might be of interest.

MC Nancy Amacher asked the group a few questions about how things were in 1961 compared to the present. Today, almost everyone owns a cell phone but only six people had smart phones.

Most of the group were on Facebook but no one was on Twitter. Almost everyone learned to drive on a manual transmission vehicle but on one person drove such a car at present.

About half of the group owned a pick-up trick. It was almost unanimous to the questions “How many of you were raised on a farm?” Yet today, only one person lives on a farm.

Most of the classmates present at the reunion live in Wisconsin; other states represented were Missouri, Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois, and Arizona.
