Hewett (3 Apr 1919)
Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Metcalf arrived here from Melrose, Wis., Monday and spent
the past week at the Lon Cook home, returning to Neillsville Sunday, where they
will visit relatives until Tuesday, when they will return to their home in
Ashland.
The sale at Gottlieb Bruney’s last Monday was the largest ever held here. It
amounted to $4,000.
John Durst, Lon Cook and H.B. Parker were called on the jury for the Krueger
case, but as they were of the same opinion as the Norwegian who said, “Vell, I
tank he be guilty,” they were sent home again.
Mr. Phillips of Christie sawed wood for Walt Amidon and Lon Cook last week.
Mrs. H.B. Parker is reported sick again.
Mrs. Dan Dormandy reminded Grandma Warner that she was 91 years old March 29, by
giving her several nice cakes of maple sugar.
Charley Hart has sent to St. Paul for his household goods and will work for Earl
Wood this summer.
