Cerne, Delia May (5 NOV 1898 – 20 NOV 1966)
Services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 22 at the Hoeper and Kraut
Funeral Home in Owen for Mrs. Delia May Cerne, 68, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), who
died at 4:20 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 1966 at Memorial Hospital, Neillsville,
where she had been a patient for several weeks. Rev. Arnold Woodring, pastor of
the Alliance Church in Owen, officiated, and burial was made in the Riverside
Cemetery at Withee.
The former Delia May Tisdale was born November 5, 1898 in Richland County. Her
marriage to Herman Bestel, who preceded her in death in 1948, took place in 1916
at Withee. In 1952 she was married to Joseph Cerne, who preceded her in death
about nine years ago. The couple farmed northwest of Withee. After her second
marriage she made their home at Willard, where she and her husband operated a
tavern for some time. For the past nine years, Mrs. Cerne had made her home in
Withee.
She attended the Withee Methodist Church.
Survivors are four sisters, Mrs. Helen Lebeck, Milwaukee; Mrs. Leora Schultz,
Northbrook, Ill.; Mrs. Ruby Price and Mrs. Frieda Antrup, both of Arlington,
Texas.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
