Delo, Nancy L. (25 JUL 1930 – 6 OCT 2016)
Nancy L. Delo, 86, Loyal, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, at the Clark
County Rehabilitation & Living Center, Owen. Funeral services were held at 11
a.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the Loyal United Methodist Church. Rev. Patsy Roe
officiated. Burial followed in the Loyal Cemetery. Pallbearers were Paul Delo,
Justin "Bubba" Delo, Michael Delo and Nathan Reading.
Nancy Lee Colby was born on July 25, 1930, in the town of Brighton, rural Unity,
the daughter of Henry and Lucy (nee Mayville) Colby. She was raised on the
family farm and received her education in the Unity area, graduating from Unity
High School in 1948. After completing high school, Nancy held various jobs,
including working at a fishing pole factory in Unity, at a candy store in
Milwaukee, and at a grocery store in Unity as a meat wrapper. She married Merlin
C. Delo on Jan. 21, 1956, in Neillsville. Nancy farmed alongside her husband and
raised their family on a farm in the town of Beaver, rural Loyal. She resided on
the farm until shortly before her death. She was a member of the Loyal United
Methodist Church and had many interests, but especially loved spending time with
her family and grandchildren, playing fast-pitch softball in her younger years
where she was a feared pitcher, and bowling.
Nancy is survived by her children: Randy Delo of Sarasota, Fla., Clay (Margie)
Delo of Spencer, Audrey (Randy) Reading of Grafton, and Scott (Christina) Delo
of Loyal; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Erma
Peters of Neenah, Beverly Kempke of Pound, and Virgene Ladd of South Milwaukee;
and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merlin, in 2005; her
children: Rick Delo in 1995, Cheryl Delo in 2003, Shannon Delo in 2005, and
Susan in infancy; two granddaughters: Jessica Delo in 2003 and Paige Delo in
2012; her daughter-in-law: Doris Delo in 1995; two sisters: Lottie Lynn and
Elenora Colby; and four brothers: Don, Lowell, Lloyd and Dennis Colby.
