Poirier, James “Jim” L. (26 NOV 1955 - 7 OCT 2016)
James “Jim” L. Poirier, age 60, of Rib Lake, WI, passed away on Friday, October
7 at his residence in the Town of Spirit under the loving care of his family,
friends and Aspirus Comfort Care Hospice.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 15 at First
Baptist Church, Medford, with Rev. Grant Brown officiating.
Visitation will take place at First Baptist Church, Medford from 4-7 PM on
Friday, October 14 and also from 10 AM until the time of services at 11 AM on
Saturday, October 15
Jim was born on November 26, 1955, in Medford, to William “Bill” Henry and
Marcella “Marcie” C. (Hartman) Poirier.
He attended Medford area elementary schools and was a 1973 graduate of Medford
High School. Jim earned his associate degrees from NTC in Wausau in both
residential design and industrial engineering. He also earned his bachelor's
degree in business administration from Mount Senario.
On May 21, 1977, Jim married Rebecca A. Hull, she survives.
He worked as a manager for 30 years at Hurd Millwork in Medford. He worked as a
substitute teacher in the Rib Lake school district for a period of time. He
worked for 8 years at Enerquip in Medford until ill health forced his
retirement. He enjoyed the GB Packers, fishing, his grandchildren and his
children’s sporting events.
Jim was a member of Christian Bible Fellowship Church, Stetsonville where he was
active in many church functions and Spirit Lakes Improvement Association where
he was active for 20 years in many ways.
He is survived by his mother, Marcella “Marcie” C. (Hartman) Poirier, Medford;
spouse Rebecca “Becky” A. Poirier, Rib Lake; children Micah (Melissa) Poirier,
Mosinee and Samantha (Brad) Blasel, Dorchester; grandchildren Grace, Noah and
Ethan Poirier, Allyson, Abbygale and Kason Blasel.
He is further survived by siblings, Jeannie (John) Deml, Medford, Jack Poirier,
Wisconsin Rapids, Julie (Bob) Frombach, Medford.
Jim is predeceased by his father, William “Bill” Henry Poirier.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to
either the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or for Cancer Research
